TOEFL was previously known as Test Of English as a Foreign Language. This is a test administered to study the incumbent’s skills at using and understanding the English language in an academic environment. TOEFL is designed as well as conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The ETS owns the registered trademark for TOEFL. The test was first developed to meet the requirement of ensuring high standards of English language among non-native English speakers who intended to study in any of the universities in the United States. Today, the TOEFL score is one of the requirements for securing admission in any United States university.
